Product Overview
This Colorfil 20x20x1 Air Filter Review will assess the performance of a two-filter set from Colorfil specifically designed for residential properties that have pets. The two filters are expected to be able to trap particulate matter dust along with pet dander in addition to other typical household odor causing substances.
The products most apparent design feature would be the coloration of the filter media. In accordance with product literature, as the filter captures dust and odors it will visibly change color, allowing consumers an easy means of determining how long the filter has been used. As such, the products design is intended to replace standard HVAC filters that utilize the 20 x 20 x 1 filter frame dimensions.
Customers Say
Many of our customers are drawn to this filter as they know we made it specifically for people who have pets. Customers will tell us they use this product in their homes where there is a dog or cat present and they like that the products focuses on reducing pet hair, dust and general smells from the house. In addition, many of our customers enjoy the color changing feature of the filter media.
While several reviewers report seeing less dust or smelling fewer odors once using this filter, there is no way to accurately predict these results based on your individual home, air conditioning/heating systems, and replacement schedule. Our biggest complaint area involves cost/fit issues. Some of our customers feel the product is too expensive compared to just buying an inexpensive disposable filter, while other customers make sure to double check the correct measurement prior to purchasing. A couple of our customers have reported mixed results regarding odor removal.

Bottom Line
This filter has a few attractive options to pet owners interested in a pet-hair-focusing HVAC filter, as well as general dust and household-odor removal. It’s most beneficial to pet owners due to its pet-hair-focused design and the fact that it changes color when you need to replace the filter, along with being sold in a two-pack. One drawback of this product is that it’s generally priced at a premium to other standard or basic HVAC filters. Some customers have reported a lack of success in removing household odors from the air. Buyers will also be required to check whether 20x20x1 is the proper size for their HVAC unit before purchasing.
